Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the ScanRecalls mobile application, scanrecalls.com, product matching, monitoring, and recall notifications.

01

Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using ScanRecalls, you agree to these Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use ScanRecalls on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization.

02

What ScanRecalls provides

ScanRecalls is an informational product-identification and recall-matching service. It helps users scan or enter supported product identifiers, compare those identifiers with recall records, monitor eligible products, and receive requested notifications.

ScanRecalls may organize, normalize, summarize, translate, or link to information published by government authorities, manufacturers, retailers, and catalog providers. The original notice remains the authoritative source.

03

Important safety limitations

No result is a safety guarantee.

Recall data may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, changed after publication, or impossible to match without a lot, batch, date, model, serial number, package size, or market-specific identifier.

  • Always compare your product with the full original recall notice and follow the authority’s or manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Do not continue using a product that appears unsafe merely because ScanRecalls displays no known match.
  • For urgent danger, contact local emergency services or the responsible product-safety authority.
  • ScanRecalls does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations, and its mobile monitoring is not intended for medicines or medical devices.
04

Acceptable use

You may use ScanRecalls for lawful personal or internal business purposes. You agree not to:

  • interfere with, overload, probe, bypass, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service or its security controls;
  • use automated means to extract data except where we have expressly permitted it;
  • submit malicious code, impersonate another person, or use the service for fraud;
  • misrepresent a ScanRecalls result as an official government or manufacturer determination; or
  • use ScanRecalls in a way that violates law or another person’s rights.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the identifiers you enter and for independently verifying any result before taking action.

05

Accounts, monitoring, and notifications

The mobile app may create an anonymous Firebase account. You may be able to link it with Apple or Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping access to your device and linked provider account secure.

Monitoring and notifications are convenience features. Delivery is not guaranteed and may be delayed or fail because of network conditions, device settings, operating-system restrictions, service outages, changes by a source, or unavailable identifiers. You may pause or delete a monitored product at any time.

Premium is optional. The app displays the price and billing period before purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew for the selected billing period until canceled through Google Play or the App Store. Canceling stops future renewals; access normally continues through the paid period, subject to the applicable store's terms.

06

Third-party services and content

ScanRecalls relies on or links to third-party services, public databases, official authorities, manufacturers, and app-platform providers. We do not control their availability, accuracy, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s terms.

Government names, agency marks, product names, brands, and other third-party materials belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement, partnership, or government affiliation.

07

ScanRecalls content and feedback

ScanRecalls and its original software, design, branding, and presentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you. You may not copy or redistribute substantial parts of the service except as permitted by law.

If you send feedback or feature suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, while you retain ownership of any rights you already hold in the feedback.

08

Availability, changes, and termination

We may add, remove, suspend, or change features, supported sources, countries, product categories, or access to ScanRecalls. We may restrict or terminate use when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, third parties, or legal compliance. You may stop using the service at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.

09

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ScanRecalls is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that every recall will be found or that every notification will be delivered.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ScanRecalls and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or use, arising from or related to the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.

10

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service or applicable requirements change. The updated terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after the updated terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.
